Dice Poker Rules
Dice poker is a dice game for one to four players, played on a score sheet. Each turn you roll five dice up to three times and write the result into one cell: close the School rows 1 to 6, score combinations such as Full house and Five of a kind, and race your opponents for the bonuses. Here are the full rules, as played on this site.
A turn
Roll all five dice. Keep any of them by tapping and roll the rest again, up to three rolls in total. Then write the result into one cell of your sheet. Each row is filled from left to right.
School: rows 1 to 6
To close a School row, you need three dice showing its number. Each extra die adds that number to your reserve: four twos close row 2 and add 2. A shortfall can be covered by the reserve, but you need at least one die showing that number. The reserve is shared by all columns and counts towards your total.
On the sheet, a closed School cell shows a cross. Whenever the reserve changes, its new total is written in the cell that caused the change, and the previous reserve entry is crossed out: four fours write 4, then two threes write 1 and cross out the 4.
If you cannot close a School row, enter a zero: minus 200 points. School rows are never doubled.
Combinations
A combination scores the dice it uses. Other dice don’t count.
| PairTwo alike | 10 | |
|---|---|---|
| Three of a kindThree alike | 12 | |
| Two pairsTwo different pairs | 16 | |
| Full houseThree plus two | 19 | |
| Four of a kindFour alike, plus 20 | 24 + 20 = 44 | |
| Five of a kindFive alike, plus 50 | 10 + 50 = 60 | |
| Small straight1 to 5 | 15 | |
| Large straight2 to 6 | 20 | |
| SumAny roll, all five dice | 20 |
If you make a combination or Sum by rolling all five dice at once, with no dice kept from a previous roll, the score is doubled, including any extra points. This always applies on the first roll, and also on a later roll if you reroll all five dice: five ones score (5 + 50) × 2 = 110.
You can always cross out a combination cell instead. It scores nothing and makes you ineligible for the bonuses for that row and column.
Bonuses
Each bonus goes only to the first player who earns it.
- School row: if you close it in every column without using the reserve, the bonus is five times its number.
- Combination row: if you fill it in every column without a cross, the bonus is its best cell. Sum has no row bonus.
- Column: if you fill it completely without a cross or a zero, the bonus is its best combination or Sum score.
Once a bonus is out of your reach, its ★ cell on your sheet is crossed out.
The end
The game ends when every sheet is full. Your total is your cells, bonuses and remaining reserve, minus 200 for each zero.
